Slumdog Millionaire director Danny Boyle presents a profile of the Indian composer AR Rahman. which broadcasted on Monday (28-02-2011) , 22:00 on BBC Radio 2.
The Mozart of Madras features an exclusive interview with the AR Rahman. Other contributors include Meera Syal; lyricist Don Black; director Shekhar Kapur; Indian Actor Anil Kapoor; composer Craig Armstrong; and Raj and Pablo from the BBC Asian Network.
AR Rahman has been composing film scores and songs for around 20 years, and has won every major award in film music, yet he only gained international recognition with the extraordinary success of Slumdog Millionaire, which won 15 awards including two Grammys, the Golden Globe and the BAFTA.
